The Research Experience & Mentorship (REM) Association at Johns Hopkins aims to guide STEM undergraduate students toward research experiences and mentorship between students. The REM dashboard is a web-based tool that automates the student-mentor matching process and provides an easily editable database for streamlined management.

Background
CONTEXT
Research Experience and Mentors is a student-led organization that supports STEM undergraduates in finding research opportunities and peer mentorship. Its primary initiative is connecting students with more experienced mentors who share similar interests and research backgrounds. The current matching process is done manually through a spreadsheet, which is time-consuming and prevents the executive team from prioritizing other efforts.

Design Decisions
DESIGNS
I designed an admin dashboard for executive members to quickly match mentors and mentees with the help of AI, along with a member portal that allows users to easily update their information and resubmit their information each semester.
01 ADMIN DASHBOARD
In the Admin Dashboard, executive members can access all member information, manage mentor–mentee matchings, and update the content displayed on member portals.
START MATCHING
Begin the matching process with the integrated LLM
VIEW MEMBER INFORMATION
Quickly access mentor and mentee details to evaluate match quality.
MANUALLY EDIT PAIRS
Drag and drop mentors or mentees between pairs for quick, manual reassignment
MANAGE FINALIZED MATCHES
After finalizing matches, choose to save the current set, regenerate matches, or distribute the results
02 MEMBER PORTAL
Through the Member Portal, new members can create accounts, active members can review and resubmit their information, and all users can view their assigned match.
REVIEW AND RESUBMIT INFORMATION
Active members no longer need to re-enter their information each semester, and can simply update existing details and resubmit.
VIEW MATHCES
Once matches are finalized, members can view their current pairing and their basic information. They can also view past matches.
